Workshop: Female Perspectives on Visual Storytelling
Location: East Boothbay, Maine
When: June 9-16, 2024
I am delighted to announce my first residential workshop for women photographers and editors called Female Perspectives on Visual Storytelling. From June 9 to June 16, 2024, we will gather at my home in Maine for a nourishing week of conversation, practice, and expert presentations designed to amplify your impact as visual storytellers. This will be part retreat and part working on the visual project of your choice.
Each day will offer focused presentations, editing, and group dialogue. Esteemed guest presenters Yunghi Kim, international photojournalist; Kathy Moran, former National Geographic magazine deputy director of photography; and Mary Virginia Swanson, author, educator, and advisor will provide perspectives and pivotal reflections from their years of leadership in our photography community. Bill Marr, former creative director of National Geographic and the Nature Conservancy, will join the group for a day to offer his expertise in editing and sequencing.
We invite applications from experienced female photographers and photo editors who can bring a visual project to be edited, reviewed, and discussed. Only nine applicants will be selected. One scholarship will be offered for this unique in-person experience. Selections will be based on the applicants’ experience, goals for the workshop, your project’s content, and the composition of the group. An early registration discount is available before February 1, 2024; the regular fee deadline is March 15, 2024
